Haiku Haiku badge counter is crazy high

For the last day or two I'm seeing the badge counter (the red circle with a white number in it) for Haiku is showing unusually large numbers.  My iPhone currently shows 85.  My iPad is showing similarly large numbers.  Starting the app clears the badge counter, but then some time later it seems to jump back up.  I've restarted Haiku Helper on my iMac, and I've shut down and restarted Haiku on the iOS devices.  Could this be related to the change in the push notifications that happened at the end of Feb?  What events cause this counter to increment?  I'm not getting a large number of notifications from Haiku, so I'm not sure why the counter is showing such a large number.
