HAI Omni IIe Install

I started to install my Omni today and ran into a couple of questions.
 
1.  I'm using an Elk-TRG2440 transformer. In my simple mind, transformers output DC with polarity but the terminals are marked AC, GND, and AC.  So which terminal gets black and which terminal gets white? The little I could dig up about the transformer on the Internet says the GND terminal is used to provide the ground connection for other devices (like the controller).
 
2.  The manual says 1000 ohm EOL resisters but my lines are wired with 900 ohm?  Is that enough to make a difference?

Here I recently switched the HAI OPII transformer for the Elk you mentioned above.  It is a 24VAC transformer. 
 
I do have the ground connected to the house grounding; same as the OPII panel.
 
My EOL values are around 147-149 reading the zones via PCA using recommended resistors.

AC was staring me right in the face on the transformer and in the manual but it just didn't register because I'm so used to converting AC to DC for electronics.  Thanks.
